Gol Linhas Aereas CEO Paulo Kakinoff announced plans to expand international capacity (ASK) by 40% year-on-year in 2019, seeking an artificial hedge against the fluctuation of the BRL (Valor, 08-Oct-2018). Around 20% of the carrier’s revenue is in USD. Around 50% of costs are in USD and around 80% of its debt is also in USD. Mr Kakinoff stated: “We’re going to launch at least one new international destination every quarter until 2021”. The carrier plans to operate around between 70% and 80% of its international services with Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The Domestic ASK is planned to increase by 3%.
