GOL attributes CASK increase in 4Q2017 to 'less benign jet fuel environment'

8 March, 2018

GOL reported (07-Mar-2018) a 1.4% year-on-year increase in total CASK in 4Q2017, to BRL21.21 cents (USD6.53 cents), due to a "less benign jet fuel environment". CASK excluding fuel decreased 4.6%, due to lower maintenance, materials and repair and lower salaries, partially offset by an increase in the purchase of products and tickets for Smiles FFP customers and reimbursements from flight cancellations. GOL remained the "cost leader" in South America for the 17th consecutive year, attributed to operation with a single standardised fleet, which led to reducing costs with crew, spare parts management and maintenance, and lean and productive operations with reduced fixed costs.
