Germania evaluating financing options to ensure liquidity after 'particularly challenging' 2018

9 January, 2019

Germania announced (08-Jan-2019) it is evaluating various financial options to ensure short term liquidity needs. Germania cited fuel increases, the weakening EUR against the USD, "considerable delays" in fleet integration and higher than anticipated aircraft maintenance events were "major burdens" for the airline in a "particularly challenging year" in 2018. The carrier reportedly estimated it required EUR20 million in short term capital by 27-Dec-2018 in order to remain operational (aeroTELEGRAPH, 08-Jan-2019). "We are focusing on the central question of how we can continue to be effective in a market environment dominated by airlines under larger corporate structures", the carrier stated, stressing all Germania services continue to be operated as planned.
