German government confident in future Condor commercial success

Germany‘s Minister for the Economy Peter Altmaier said Condor Flugdienst will be able to continue operations and begin the restructuring required to remain competitive (airliners.de, 25-Sep-2019). The government stated difficulties faced by Condor were not “homemade problems”, adding it is confident the airline can remain commercially successful and repay its bridging loan with “good prospect that new owners will be able to support Condor in the long run”. As previously reported by CAPA, the EUR380 million bridging loan offered by the Federal and Hessian state governments is subject to European Commission approval.
