Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport announced (15-Feb-2018) plans to construct a new pier as part of the airport’s T2 expansion project, increasing terminal size from 53,000sqm to 69,000sqm. Pier construction includes four external frames equipped with aerobridges to allow arriving/departing passengers to directly access non Schengen zones. The new pier will be dedicated to non Schengen services, with T1 serving as a backup terminal in case of capacity issues. The project also involves upgrading of the terminal, including increasing luggage carousels from five to nine, check in points from 20 to 40, and expansion of baggage security check areas with the addition of seven security control lines. Construction is expected to last two years. [more – original PR – Polish]
