Garuda Indonesia to suspend London services in an effort to reduce losses

23 May, 2019

Garuda Indonesia CEO Askhara Danadiputra informed an Indonesian House of Representatives committee of the airline's plans to suspend London service in Aug-2019 to help reduce the company's losses (Bisnis, 22-May-2019). Mr Danadiputra added that several routes operated by Garuda in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism would also be suspended, due the ministry failing to provide an IDR8 billion (USD550,000) subsidy to operate the services. Garuda currently operates Jakarta Soekarno Hatta-London Heathrow-Denpasar-Jakarta service, the sole nonstop service between the UK and Indonesia.
