French Polynesia start up Islands Airline to launch commercial ops in 2019

    French Polynesia‘s Administrative Tribunal allocated (16-Oct-2018) a 15 day period to the Polynesian Government to award an AOC to Islands Airline. The carrier plans to launch commercial operations to Bora Bora, Raiatea, Huahine, Rangiroa, Nuku Hiva, Tubuai and Hao, as well as Cook Islands and Samoa by the end of 2019 (Reuters/, 17-Oct-2018). As previously reported by CAPA, New Caledonia based businessman Bill Ravel plans to obtain two Embraer 175 aircraft on lease to operate across the territory, claiming it can undercut Air Tahiti fares by 15% to 20%.
