Fraport to expand duty free locations to boost retail revenue: CFO

Fraport AG reported (08-Aug-2018) net retail revenue per passenger decreased 12.3% year-on-year to EUR3.06 in 1H2018. The decrease was influenced by above average growth in passenger numbers on European short haul routes where passengers tend to spend less, as well as bottle necks during peak times decreasing time available for shopping. Devaluation of other currencies against the euro led to a loss of purchasing power. Fraport CFO Matthias Zieschang said the company plans to roll out new duty free locations at Frankfurt Airport over 24 months to improve retail revenue results (Reuters, 08-Aug-2018).
