France to block the resumption of domestic routes planned to be cut by Air France

22 June, 2020

France's Secretary of State for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari reported the government will eventually publish a decree to prevent airlines from operating domestic routes that Air France will be required to discontinue due to state aid and environmental commitments (RTL, 22-Jun-2020). As previously reported by CAPA, a condition of the government's financial aid package for Air France will include cutting routes on city pairs where a rail alternative with a duration of less than 2h30 exists.
