Four 787-9s the right amount to satisfy Tahiti demand: Air Tahiti Nui CEO

Air Tahiti Nui CEO Michel Monvoisin said the airline’s Boeing 787-9 equipment allows it to “fly all our routes with ease” (Airways Magazine, 23-Jan-2019). “We’re saving about 25% in fuel and overall costs. And once we get ETOPS 180 certification, we might save a lot more”, Mr Monvoisin stated. He said four aircraft are sufficient to satisfy Tahiti inbound/outbound demand with average load factor of approximately 70%-75%, adding any more aircraft would be “unfeasible”. According to the CAPA Fleet Database, the carrier has two of the four 787-9 deliveries remaining.
