13 May, 2019

Western Australia's Government reported (13-May-2019) tunnel boring machine (TBM) Grace and its crew reached Redcliffe Station, forming part of the wider Forrestfield-Perth Airport Link. TBM Grace has now tunnelled 62% of the 7.4km tunnel component of the 8.5km train line to Bayswater. The state government allocated AUD4.1 billion (USD2.85 billion) towards the METRONET rail project as part of the 2019/2020 state budget. Redcliffe Station is forecast to eventually support more than 5000 employees, while more than 7800 new residents are expected to move to the immediate area once the station is fully developed.
