Flycana CEO Fred Jacobsen stated the startup hired a New York investment bank to raise capital for the carrier to commence operations (Arecoa, 10-Dec-2019). The start up is seeking to raise USD80 million, which would cover its first five years of operations with an initial fleet of seven aircraft. Mr Jacobsen added: "We want to be able to announce the aircraft that we are going to operate by the end for 2019". The carrier plans to focus on Dominican Republic routes to North America, in locations where there is a high concentration of Dominican nationals.
