Flybondi estimates that over 1m pax will be affected by Buenos Aires El Palomar's restriction

19 September, 2019

Flybondi estimated that restrictions imposed on by Argentina's judicial system on Buenos Aires El Palomar Airport's operational hours will affect over one million passengers between the end of Sep-2019 and Mar-2020 (HostelTur, 18-Sep-2019). The carrier stated the restrictions also mean it will need to rethink investment and expansion plans. Flybondi CEO Sebastian Pereira stated the restrictions can set an "enormous regulatory" precedent which places other more urban airports, such as Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport and Buenos Aires Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport, in a "vulnerable" position. As previously reported by CAPA, JetSMART Argentina GM Gonzalo Corral stated: "Our model implies operating the aircraft to the maximum. We are operating around 12 to 13 hours daily with each aircraft and with the new restrictions the maximum would be 10 hours".[more - original PR - Spanish]
