Fleet modernisation the ‘main lever’ for reducing environmental footprint: Air France

    Air France CEO Anne Rigail said (27-Sep-2019) the delivery of its first A350-900 marks a “new phase in Air France‘s fleet modernisation strategy”. She said more than half of the airline’s fleet will be made up of new-generation aircraft in the next five years. Air France stated its “main lever” for reducing its environmental footprint will stem from fleet modernisation. It explained its new A350-900 consumes 2.5 litres per passenger per 100km, 25% less than comparable aircraft, through the incorporation of materials up to 67% lighter including 53% composites and 14% titanium.
