Firefly plans to expand Malaysian connections from Seletar Airport with focus on secondary cities

24 May, 2019

Firefly CEO Philip See said the regional carrier plans to connect Singapore Seletar Airport to more destinations in Malaysia, with an "immediate scope for expansion" to secondary cities like Ipoh and Kuantan (Channel News Asia, 23-May-2019). Mr See added: "They (Malaysian travel agents) still don't know about Seletar. They think it's an old military airport. Although there's been a lot of coverage, when you actually speak to customers, there's still a question mark. 'Is this operational? Is it feasible? Is it really convenient?' And so there is going to be some work to develop it". He added Seletar offers a better passenger experience than Singapore Changi Airport, as passengers do not need to take a bus from the tarmac to the arrivals hall.
