20 June, 2018

FCM Travel Solutions in its 'New Zealand from the Air' country report, stated (20-Jun-2018) air travel capacity to New Zealand is stimulating demand while placing greater strain on existing airport infrastructure, influencing innovations such as automated passenger processing technology and infrastructure improvements. According to FCM, the introduction of automated passenger processing technology is "expected to take centre stage"in the future designs of New Zealand airports. The travel management company added that new technology and infrastructure will also reduce the number of wall and other physical barriers in terminals, continuing a concept "being adopted throughout the Asia Pacific". Innovation at the airport will not be restricted to airport operators and authorities, as airlines "play a significant role in streamlining passenger movement which is evident with Air New Zealand and the advent of automated baggage check-in".
