EU Air Safety list updated; TAAG Angola removed, some Moldovan carriers added

    European Commission published (16-Apr-2019) an update of its EU Air Safety List. Key changes were:

    • Removal of TAAG Angola Airlines, as well as Heli Malongo, from the list operating. These had been operating under restrictions since Nov-2008;
    • Addition of all air carriers from Moldova, with the exception of Air MoldovaFly One and Aerotranscargo to the list, due to a lack of safety oversight by the national civil aviation authority;
    • Civil aviation authorities of the Dominican Republic and of Belarus have been put under heightened scrutiny because of signs of a decrease in safety oversight;

    Following the update, a total of 120 airlines are banned from EU skies:
