Emirates Airline expects to serve 100% of network by summer 2021: COO

21 August, 2020

Emirates Airline COO Adel Al Redha said the carrier expects to serve 100% of its network by summer 2021 (CNBC/Arabian Business, 20-Aug-2020). He stated: "Obviously the frequency of flights per day will depend on the demand and some of the restrictions that we will need to unwind from some airports in some countries, but in terms of the airline network planning, by summer 2021 we'll be covering 143 destinations". Mr Al Redha acknowledged the worst is not yet behind the airline, but said there is "definitely a positive trend" of demand from passengers wishing to travel. "If I compare our performance now with a month ago, we have almost doubled the number of passengers we have been carrying on board our aircraft - either transiting or terminating in Dubai - and that is due to the different measures". Measures include the "relaxation of the entry rules" for tourists to Dubai, which "did help us quite a lot".
