El Al to operate Tel Aviv-Melbourne service in Apr/May-2020

El Al announced (10-Dec-2019) plans to operate the first nonstop Tel Aviv-Melbourne service on 02-Apr-2020, 23-Apr-2020 and 14-May-2020, with three class Boeing 787. The service will operate as part of a commercial trial for a scheduled service. El Al VP commercial and industry affairs Michael Strassburger said the route will substantially shorten the trip to Australia and deepen the touristic, business and political ties between the countries. Mr Strassburger added: "Operating this route will be subject to approval of governmental parties, including civil aviation authorities; the airline will decide on regular operations in the coming months".
