Ecuador's federation of tourism chambers (Fenacaptur) president Holbach Muñetón commented on the socio-political crisis which Ecuador is facing, stating that the situation is "despairing" where Ecuador is "living through an unprecedented crisis which will be very hard to recover from" (Hosteltur, 13-Oct-2019). He added: "Ecuador's Tourism is mortally wounded". Mr Muñetón, via his personal Twitter account, reported the following hotel occupancy rates for 12-Oct-2019:
