easyJet to press ahead with package holiday business despite competitors bowing out

14 March, 2019

easyJet CEO Johan Lundgren said the airline plans to continue pursuing direct partnerships with hotels to increase ancillary revenues, despite Ryanair and Wizz Air closing their respective package holiday businesses (ATW Online, 13-Mar-2019). Mr Lundgren said: "We have taken a different approach [compared to Ryanair and Wizz Air]... easyJet holidays launched in 2015. There is a lot of revenue potential; the opportunity is too big not to capture it". He added the airline will allocate dedicated resources towards expanding its holiday business, adding: "We don't want to take resources from the core airline to focus on something else. Our core airline people focus on what they do".
