easyJet targeted by 'highly sophisticated' cyber attack

20 May, 2020

easyJet stated (19-May-2020) it has been the target of an attack from a highly sophisticated source, with the email address and travel details of approximately nine million customers were accessed. The carrier undertook an investigation and will contact all affected passengers. Passport details and credit card details of these passengers were not accessed. The carrier's forensic investigation found that 2208 passengers had their credit card details accessed, with all affected customers contacted and offered support. There is no evidence that any personal information of any nature has been misused, however, on the recommendation of the Information Commissioner's Office, easyJet is communicating with passengers whose travel details were accessed to advise them of protective steps to minimise any risk of potential phishing.
