easyJet interest in Alitalia largely focused on short and medium haul routes

easyJet director for Italy Frances Ouseley stated the company's interest in Alitalia is "strongly focused on the short and medium range" (La Repubblica, 23-Jan-2018). Ms Ouseley noted Alitalia's insolvency commissioners are in favour of a full sale of the airline. Ms Ouseley said a partnership with Air France would enable Alitalia's long haul routes to be subsequently taken over. "The easyJet solution fully meets the needs of the commissioners", she added. As previously reported by CAPA, Air France denied interest in Alitalia however recently had access to the company's data room.
