Delta: Rising oil prices ‘not terrible’ in long term due to more durable business models being built

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian commented on declining airline stocks largely due to rising oil prices (CNBC, 31-May-2018). In the long term, Mr Bastian believes this could be “not terrible” as operators are forced to work towards more discipline and a more “durable business model”. He added: “We’ve made a lot of money at oil prices a lot higher than this”. He said 2018 will be the fifth consecutive year Delta records over USD5 billion in profits.
