Delta Air Lines looks forward to more business travel demand after Labor Day: CEO

19 June, 2020

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said the carrier expects Labor Day on 07-Sep-2020 to act as an "important milestone and pivot point" for business travel, as post Labor Day is "typically when business travel starts to pick up again" (Bloomberg, 18-Jun-2020). He noted the "vast majority" of Delta's current customer base consists of leisure travellers, due to "good bargains not just in the air but on the ground", as businesses such as hotels and theme parks reopen. "But we need businesses to start opening, and right now... most businesses are largely closed". Mr Bastian said the carrier expects to reach the "next stage of recovery" and experience an "improved mix of revenue flow" as businesses "start to open hopefully after Labor Day".
