Delta Air Lines: Improvements across business drove operating revenue of USD9.8bn in 1Q2018

Delta Air Lines stated (12-Apr-2018) adjusted operating revenue of USD9.8 billion for 1Q2018 was a 8% improvement year-on-year, driven by improvements across its business including a 23% in cargo revenue and a USD78 million increase in total loyalty revenue. Delta's branded fares initiative drove USD421 million in premium up-sell revenue in 1Q2018, a 23% increase year-on-year. Total unit revenues excluding refinery sales (TRASM) increased 5.0%, while all geographic regions delivered positive results. President Glen Hauenstein said: "We are seeing Delta's best revenue momentum since 2014, with positive domestic unit revenues, improvements in all our international entities, strong demand for corporate travel and double-digit increases in our loyalty revenues. With our solid pipeline of commercial initiatives, delivered with industry-leading Delta service, we expect to maintain this momentum and deliver total revenue growth of four to six per cent for the full year".
