Delta Air Lines hopes to become launch customer for new Boeing midsized aircraft

14 February, 2018

Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian stated the carrier is interested in a possible new midsized aircraft developed by Boeing, stating: "You're going to see us participate in Boeing's middle-of-the-market campaign... I hope that we're going to be a launch customer on that programme as well" (Reuters/Bloomberg, 13/14-Feb-2018). Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant added: "Delta is actively engaged with Boeing on this and we will continue a healthy dialogue with them as the programme matures". The carrier sees the new aircraft model as an "interesting concept" and may use it to replace some 757 and 767 aircraft in the long term.
