This year The Blue Swan Daily will feature some of the leading airlines, airports and country markets for air travel. Here, using the extensive profile insights available to CAPA – Centre for Aviation members, we deliver a data snapshot on Palma de Mallorca Airport, currently the busiest airport in Spain following a strong growth in flights over the past weeks.
Unlike most other destinations currently this growth has been driven by international services due to the Balearic island’s popularity as a leisure destination, particularly from Germany and the United Kingdom which account for more two thirds of current seat capacity.
However, with rising Covid-19 infections pushing some nations to introduce regional restrictions for travel to the Spanish mainland and wider countrywide policies that also incorporate the Balearic and Canary islands it is unclear how future capacity will be impacted.
