DATA SPOTLIGHT: Aegean Airlines

17 February, 2020

This year The Blue Swan Daily will feature some of the leading airlines, airports and country markets for air travel. Here, using the extensive profile insights available to CAPA - Centre for Aviation members to deliver a data snapshot, we look at Aegean Airlines, the Greek flag carrier, which last week celebrated the arrival of its first Airbus A320neo with the unveiling of a new corporate identity, including a new livery and refreshed aircraft interiors.

Aegean Airlines now has two A320neos from an extended order for 46 A320neo/A321neo aircraft that extends out to 2025 with options for 12 further aircraft if additional capacity is required. The airline is expected to incorporate six 'neo' aircraft into its fleet by Jul-2020.

According to its CEO, Dimitrios Gerogiannis, every new aircraft incorporated into the airline contributes to the Greek economy with 70 additional direct job opportunities in both air and ground handling, 100,000 more inbound visitors per annum and EUR80 million in additional tourism industry revenue.

Our analysis highlights the activities of Aegean Airlines and does not include Olympic Air, which operates as a sister business within the Aegean Airlines Group.
