Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association details strong tourism figures for Feb-2019

Curaçao Hospitality & Tourism Association reported (25-Mar-2019) an 18% year-on-year increase in overnight visitor arrivals in Feb-2019, totalling 41,145 against 34,773 in Feb-2018. Overnight visitors from the Netherlands increased by 16%, totalling 17,277. Germany increased by 24% totalling 1708. The exceptional growth performance from Germany is directly related to additional airlift with Condor from Frankfurt. The North American region held a 27% share of all visitors to Curaçao, totalling 10,896 from US and Canada. The US increased by 15% while Canada increased by 19%, both benefiting from increased connectivity through American Airlines and Air Canada. South America overnight visitors increased by 32%, totalling 5434. Colombia with 1609 visitors registered an increase of 33%. Overall visitor nights increased by 10% to 782,000 in Jan/Feb-2019. European tourists spent 497,000 nights in Curaçao, a 9% increase. North and South American visitors respectively spent 161,000 and 93,000 visitor nights in Curaçao for the year to date.
