Costa Rica investing USD10m in airport infrastructure

Costa Rica's DGAC invested CRC5.9 billion (USD10.4 million) in airport infrastructure at Limon Airport, Guapiles Airport and Tortuguero Airport (El Pais, 30-Aug-2019). DGAC GM Guillermo Hoppe stated: "This is an effort to stimulate the economic recovery, the increase in tourism, stimulate production, trade and connectivity". Intervention at Limon Airport included the construction of a new CRC1.8 billion (USD3.2 million) passenger terminal. Guapiles Airport had its runway extended to 1138m by 18m and the terminal was expanded, totalling CRC1.6 billion (USD2.8 million), with further airside improvements to commence, including the construction of a hangar.
