Cork Airport head of communications Kevin Cullinane stated: “Once aircraft such as the [Boeing] MAX are certified to fly again and airlines take delivery of the A321neo, airports such as Corkwill feature again in these airlines’ plans”, adding, “In the meantime, existing aircraft such as the Boeing 757 remain an alternative option to operate trans Atlantic services from Cork” (Irish Examiner, 20-Aug-2019). Mr Cullinane added advances in aircraft technology have “aided our [trans Alantic] ambitions”. As previously reported by CAPA, Norwegian Air confirmed on 13-Aug-2019 its Cork–Providence service would remain suspended, due to the grounding of its Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet.
