Copenhagen Airport Jan-2019 pax increase driven by long haul ops to Asia via the Middle East

13 February, 2019

Copenhagen Airports A/S reported (12-Feb-2019) Copenhagen Kastrup Airport handled 2.0 million passengers in Jan-2019, an increase of 2.3% year-on-year, driven in particular by long haul services to Asia. "The growing demand for long haul flights is a particular driver for the growth in traveller numbers. The number of passengers on one of January's 36 long haul routes increased by 13.6%", Copenhagen Airports CEO Thomas Woldbye said. He noted "quite a large proportion of travel to Asia" now passes through the Middle East, with traffic to/from Doha placing the city in the top 10 destinations served for the first time due to Qatar Airways increasing from 14 to 18 weekly departing frequencies in late summer 2018.
