Congestion at major airports lead to a boom in secondary airport builds

Speaking at the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit this week, Scoot head of sales and distribution Trevor Spinks said congestion at major airports in Asia will lead to the opening up of secondary and tertiary airports. For this reason, we thought we would take a look at all the airports around the world set to be opened in the next two decades. The largest concentration of new airports comes from Asia Pacific with over 50% scheduled to open by 2035, with India and China leading the charge. Interestingly, 42% of scheduled airports are secondary ones in cities where airports already exist.
