Citi: Flight shaming will be 'largely be a European phenomenon'

11 February, 2020

Citi managing director Mark Manduca stated that investor sentiment about the 'flight shaming' movement is that it will "largely be a European phenomenon, with Germany, France and Sweden likely to see the largest impact" (BBC, 11-Feb-2020). While the movement will put "downward pressure to demand growth forecasts", Europe is expected to be affected as there are more alternatives to commercial air travel than in the US, particularly high speed rail replacing short haul flights.
