Christchurch Airport introduces VR training for airport firefighters

1 May, 2019

Christchurch International Airport introduced (01-May-2019) custom designed virtual reality (VR) technology to help train firefighters working the airport. Christchurch Airport manager digital solutions and data technology Art Martinson said the VR training was developed locally, in collaboration with the airport company and its firefighters, adding: "Our VR platform takes us from observation to immersion, so it's the next generation of training and recruitment... We'll continue to develop more simulations of real situations that are otherwise almost impossible to train for in real life". [more - original PR]
