Chinese nationals receive 70% of total Japanese tourist visas issued in 2018

Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued 6,952,804 visas in 2018, an increase of 18.5% year-on-year (Nikkei/Travel Vision, 07-May-2019). Chinese nationals received 78.3% of total visas issued, of which 4.9 million were tourist visas, making up 70% of the total number of tourist visas issued. The Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia followed China in ranking.
