Six Senses signs Loire Valley resort development in the ‘Garden of France’
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas has a track record of discovering the world’s most out of the ordinary destinations in which to create exceptional guest experiences. This will continue with the opening of the Six Senses Loire Valley in-May 2022. Located within the Les Bordes Estate, a 1,400-acre (560-hectare) site in the Sologne forest, near the village of Saint-Laurent-Nouan, the property will incorporate equestrian and tennis centres, an organic farm, an art gallery, a petting farm, a natural swimming lake with beach, water sports, and biking and walking trails. Located just over a 90-minute drive south of Paris, it will encompass 88 guest suites and villas, clustered as enclaves in the woodland landscape and built alongside streams and waterways. Provision is being made for 70 residential villas, which will be offered for private ownership, with the opportunity to include them in the resort’s inventory.
Radisson brand to debut in Georgia in Tbilisi’s historic heart
Radisson Hotel Group has announced the signing of the first Radisson-branded hotel in Georgia, further driving the expansion of the group’s upscale brand across Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA). The Radisson Tbilisi City Centre is set to arrive in Georgia’s capital in 2021 and will be located in the capital’s historic heart. Alongside 200 guest rooms, the property will also feature a restaurant, a bar and a meeting space equipped with the latest audio-visual technology. Alongside this development Radisson Hotel Group currently has three properties in operation around Georgia – the Radisson Blu Hotel, Batumi; the Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel, Tibilisi; and the new Radisson Collection Hotel, Tsinandali Estate Georgia. The first Radisson RED will also open soon in Tbilisi’s Old Town district.
Hilton Garden Inn brings its upscale, affordable offer to Lithuania
Hilton Garden Inn has introduced its upscale, affordable offer to Lithuania with the opening of the Vilnius City Centre in the Baltic capital. The 164-room property is located in the main street of Vilnius – Gedimino Avenue, running between Seimas Palace and Cathedral Square and includes authentic Lithuanian cultural heritage features. The hotel is located in the Live Square complex, developed by the real estate company Eika. The project consists of a business centre, a hotel, three residential houses and a commercial gallery.
Hyatt Regency Chantilly becomes France’s ninth Hyatt branded property
Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened the Hyatt Regency Chantilly, the ninth Hyatt branded hotel in France. Reminiscent of an 18th-century authentic hamlet, the 211-room property is set along the Nonette River in the historic and tranquil town of Chantilly, only 20 minutes from Charles De Gaulle International airport and 45 minutes from the centre of Paris. Comprised of eight buildings, the hotel offers a scenic setting for a variety of events including weddings, social occasions, exhibitions, meetings, and conferences. The property inventory includes 14 luxury suites, offering four different varieties including one Royal Garden Suite, seven Regency Executive Suites, one Chantilly Suite, and five Regency Suites.
From Perk to Chore: ‘hotel horrors’ are apparently ruining the business travel experience
New UK research has revealed that ‘hotel horrors’ are leaving British employees dreading going away on business, highlighting that a mere 3% enjoy trips for work with sub-standard accommodation a major culprit. The report, commissioned by exclusiveprivatevillas.com, says travellers are being hit by a string of frustrations, with noise, poor WiFi, lack of hygiene, broken heating and food poisoning all featuring in the list of complaints of the 1,000 business travellers polled. Heading the responses from just under one in five respondents (18%) were gripes about staying somewhere too noisy to sleep or work and frustrations over a lack of WiFi.
Hampton by Hilton has opened a new branded 126 room hotel at Toulouse Blagnac airport. The hotel offers a free shuttle to the airport terminal and surrounding businesses. Rooms are equipped with HD TV and WiFi and the hotel offers fitness centre, business centre and boardrooms.
Branded hotel openings in Russia decreased fivefold in 1H 2019 as the market has come to terms with the additional supply introduced to support increased visitor demand for last year’s FIFA World Cup. Research from JLL shows that in first half of the year just 624 branded rooms appeared in the country; almost five times less than the 2,800 recorded in 1H 2018.
Radisson Hotel Group has opened a new 142 room Park Inn by Radisson hotel in Berchem, adjacent to Antwerp airport. The opening brings the group’s Belgian portfolio to 14 hotels and more than 1900 rooms in operation, with another hotel and 110 rooms under development.
Novosibirsk’s Tolmachevo airport has confirmed the opening of a 6-12-24 hotel with 49 guest rooms, a cafe, meeting room and gym. The hotel offers guests rates for six, 12 or 24 hours and has been introduced to support the needs for transfer passengers at the Siberian airport.
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of its sixteenth Hotel Indigo in the UK, the Hotel Indigo Chester. Featuring 75 rooms, the boutique property includes elements from the city’s local character and charm. Chester has become an increasingly popular short-break destination and is only a short drive from the bigger cities of Manchester and Liverpool.
Hilton Tel Aviv has introduced an original cocktail menu celebrating the cities and neighbourhoods of Israel. The series of 11 drinks are available over the summer at the Lobby Restaurant & Bar and Terrace overlooking the Mediterranean.
