Marriott plans to expand its branded residential portfolio by more than 70% by 2022
Marriott International has announced that its branded residential portfolio is expected to grow by more than 70% in four years as both consumers and residential real estate developers seek homes affiliated with its brands such as Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, EDITION and W. The company is already the largest branded residential company in the lodging industry with nearly 90 branded residential projects already open, and the company has a pipeline of more than 60 additional signed and approved projects in locations ranging from resort destinations to gateway cities. Last year alone, the company signed 13 branded residential projects – setting an annual record. From gateway cities to emerging markets, Marriott’s brands are flourishing where high-value real estate buyers work and play. “As the number of residential condominium buyers grows globally, Marriott International’s well-known brands are ready to welcome them ‘home’ and deliver a distinct experience,” says Tony Capuano, executive vice president and global chief development officer, Marriott International. “We are excited to work with world-class developers to help them deliver highly desirable and successful branded residences to market.” The company opened its first branded residences in 2000 under the Ritz-Carlton brand and has been expanding ever since, especially after Marriott acquired Starwood Hotels and Resorts along with its St. Regis and W brands. By 2022, Marriott International expects to have open branded residential projects in nearly 40 countries and territories. The company plans to open 19 branded residential projects in nine countries in 2018 and 2019.


London and Rome among launch locations for Hilton Honors’ new Explore local travel feature
Hilton has introduced Explore, an all-new feature of the Hilton Honors mobile app, providing members the opportunity to explore the neighborhood surrounding their hotel with suggestions from people who know the area best – local Hilton Team Members. It is initially available in 28 markets covering nearly 1,000 global properties among all Hilton brands, but there are plans to expand to additional markets in the future. It is powered by location technology company, Foursquare, and will bring together industry-leading at-your-fingertips technology and localised recommendations rooted in the personal experiences of its local employees. Through Explore, guests will have the opportunity to experience food, nightlife, shopping and activity destinations hand-selected by Hilton Team Members who reside in the area and take pride in knowing and sharing the ‘best of’ their cities first-hand. Hilton says Each recommendation includes photos and tips directly from local Team Members, including tasty menu items to try, the best times to go, and specific things to see. Hilton says suggestions are curated to appeal to a variety of audiences – from families looking for children-friendly museums to frequent travellers looking for business dinner recommendations or couples interested in fine dining experiences.


Edwardian Hotels names new London landmark hotel
Edwardian Hotels has revealed its new Leicester Square property in the UK capital will be aptly named The Londoner. Scheduled to open in 2020, this five-star 15 level hotel will have 350 rooms including 15 suites; five concept restaurants and lounges including a rooftop bar; a state-of-the-art ballroom for up to 1000 guests, two new Odeon Luxe cinemas and a unique subterranean spa. Today, Edwardian Hotels London owns and operates eleven Radisson Blu Edwardian London hotels in London and central Manchester, The May Fair Hotel and a collection of restaurants and bar brands including the May Fair Kitchen, Monmouth Kitchen and May Fair Bar, and is currently engaged in a major development in Leicester Square incorporating a luxury lifestyle hotel, restaurants, bars, spa and cinemas.


Radisson Hotel Group to open Park Inn by Radisson at Oslo Gardermoen Airport
Radisson Hospitality has formally agreed to open the Park Inn by Radisson Oslo Airport Hotel West at Oslo Gardermoen Airport. The hotel has 233 rooms and features a restaurant, bar, fitness room and 12 meeting and conference rooms. The acquisition brings Radisson’s Norway portfolio to 24 hotels and more than 6000 rooms in operation or under development. The facility, due to open by the end of this year, will be approximately 3km from the airport and a 20-minute train ride from Oslo city centre.


TUI UK to expand Croatian holiday offering and open new ‘adults only’ hotel following surge in interest
TUI UK plans to launch services from London Gatwick Airport and Manchester Airport to Rijeka in May-2019. TUI will also open an own branded “adults only” hotel on Kvarner Bay in 2018 to complement the new services. TUI states unique searches across its e-commerce platforms for Croatia increased almost 30% from 2017.
