BP regional head Asia Pacific: We need to focus on base rates rather than add ons
BP regional head Asia Pacific indirect procurement Karina Harris, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation & Corporate Travel Summit, stated (07-Aug-2019) “Base rates are the important part, the dynamics of our travellers is really changing, the Y generation no longer want to stay in their hotel, they want to go out and look at the wonders of the city they’re in, so we really need to focus on base rates as opposed to add ons”.
Booking.com wants to include more trip amenities into its offering
Booking.com regional director of strategic partnerships for APAC Stewart Jones, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation & Corporate Travel Summit, stated (07-Aug-2019) the company wants to build more of the trip into what it offers, including “full ground transportation” as well as “other travel benefit add ons” such as WiFi, alongside hotel accommodation. Mr Jones noted this is a project which is “happening now” and is expected to roll out in the future.
Thai Airways and Hilton Hotels sign MoU covering passenger discounts
Thai Airways signed an MoU with Hilton Hotels, enabling international and domestic passengers of the carrier to receive discounts at Hilton Hotels in Thailand (Bangkok Post, 05-Aug-2019).
International SOS: Hotel safety is ‘pretty tangible’ for corporate travel
International SOS senior marketing executive Claire Antczak, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation & Corporate Travel Summit, stated (07-Aug-2019) hotel safety is “pretty tangible” in corporate travel and its important that companies vet hotel locations before sending employees there, “especially as the industry is travelling to more diverse locations” and “high risk areas”.
