Tourism Accommodation Australia welcomes growth in overnight visitor expenditure
Tourism Accommodation Australia (TAA) welcomed (18-Jul-2019) the achievement of the Australian Government’s Tourism 2020 goal to grow total overnight visitor expenditure to AUD115 billion (USD81.2 billion) ahead of schedule. According to International Visitor Survey and National Visitor Survey results for the year ending Mar-2019, overnight visitor expenditure reached a record AUD118.9 billion (USD84 billion). TAA national CEO Michael Johnson reported the ‘Hotels, Motels, and Resorts’ category accounted for 25% of all nights and grew to 96.9 million.
Amadeus ‘committed to growing our portfolio beyond air’ for Travel Platform
Amadeus senior manager of air content marketing, travel content sourcing, travel channels May Inkersole, via the company’s official blog, stated (22-Jul-2019) the company is “committed to growing our portfolio beyond air” for content available through the Amadeus Travel Platform. The system means travel agencies “have access to all the travel content they need in the one place”. Amadeus offers over 3.1 million hotel shopping options and more than 770,000 unique properties. In addition, it has content from:
- 230+ tour operators;
- 90 rail operators;
- 43 car rental companies with 42,000 car rental locations;
- 1750 transfer locations in 177 countries;
- 20 cruise and ferry lines;
- 34 insurance provider groups.
