GoldSpring Consulting: Airbnb ‘increasingly big player’ in corporate travel market

GoldSpring Consulting regional director APAC Catherine Craig, speaking at the CAPA Canberra Aviation & Corporate Travel Summit, stated: Airbnb is becoming an “increasingly big player” in the corporate travel market. The sharing economy accommodation service currently accounts for approximately 10% of rooms occupied by corporate travellers globally. Airbnb’s supply increase is also increasing at double the rate of traditional hotels.


STR: 500 Canberra hotel rooms to be constructed in the forward period

STR regional manager Matthew Burke, speaking at the CAPA Canberra Aviation & Corporate Travel Summit, stated: The Canberra hotel sector has 500 rooms to be constructed in the forward period, with 150 rooms coming online in 2018. Mr Burke added supply for Canberra hotel rooms over the previous 10 years has been consistent, with an occupancy rate of 76% in 2017.

Central Melbourne property, Oaks on Market, has added the finishing touches to its refurbishment, unveiling a new makeover worth over AUD3 million. Set within a striking tower complex on Melbourne’s buzzing Market Street, Oaks on Market’s 280 guest rooms have all been given a contemporary facelift, comprising its range of Studio Rooms, and self-contained One and Two Bedroom Apartments.


Crowne Plaza Changi Airport Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Achievement of ‘World’s Best Airport Hotel’ Title for Fourth Consecutive Year

Crowne Plaza Changi Airport has celebrated its 10th anniversary by securing Skytrack’s awards for the World’s Best Airport Hotel and the Best Airport Hotel in Asia for the fourth consecutive year. Crowne Plaza Changi Airport emerged top in the category, based on 13.73 million airport survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities of airport customers, between Aug-2017 to Feb-2018. Crowne Plaza Changi Airport GM Bruno Cristol, commented: “We are truly heartened to be awarded the title of the World’s Best Airport Hotel for the fourth year running. As we turn ten this year, this prestigious award comes as timely recognition of the hard work and dedication of our team over the past decade.”
