    Works commence on USD36m Rydges hotel at Gold Coast Airport

    Queensland Airports Limited CEO Chris Mills welcomed the start of construction at the AUD50 million (USD36 million) Rydges hotel development at Gold Coast Airport (Gold Coast Bulletin/mygc.com.au, 04-Feb-2019). Mr Mills said: “Having a hotel as part of the airport precinct is an exciting opportunity for us. This investment and the overall development planned for Gold Coast Airport are representative of the ongoing strength of the Gold Coast as a destination and the increasing strength of the Northern NSW region”. The seven storey, 192 room hotel is being developed by Trepang and is expected to support 90 jobs during construction and 60 ongoing positions upon completion in 2020. Trepang has previously delivered two airport hotels in Darwin.

    Next Hotels and Kafnu to Open in Sri Lanka’s Colombo City Centre in 2019

    Next Hotel Colombo and Kafnu Colombo will open their doors to welcome guests in third quarter 2019. This will mark the entry of Next Hotels and Kafnu into Sri Lanka, a fast-growing tourist destination and will be the first foray of the Next brand outside of Australia. Next Hotel Colombo and Kafnu, which combines the best elements of a shared work space, boutique hotel and social community, will be located in the iconic Colombo City Centre, a premier lifestyle destination in Sri Lanka. Jointly owned and developed by Next Story Group and the Abans Group, Colombo City Centre is a mixed-use development which consists of a Next Hotel, luxury apartments and the first international shopping mall in the country.

    AccorHotels the official major accommodation partner of Canberra’s Night Noodle Markets

    AccorHotels has joined Canberra’s Night Noodle Markets as the festival’s official major accommodation partner, as part of Good Food Month. Canberra’s favourite al fresco food festival, Good Food Month, officially kicks off on March 1 with the launch of the Night Noodle Markets at Reconciliation Place. Thousands of noodle-lovers flock annually to the Night Noodle Markets to get their noodle fix, and this year the sizzling nights will once again be packed with Asian Hawker-style signature dishes and innovative tastes from Hoy Pinoy, Chur Burger, Churken, Shallot Thai, Mr Bao, Bangkok Street Food, What the Pho, Rou Jia Mo, May’s Malaysian Hawker, Twistto, Flying Noodles, Little Kyoto, Waffleland, Wok Master with many more to be announced.
