Crowne Plaza to return to Adelaide in 2020
IHG confirmed Crowne Plaza will return to Adelaide in 2020. The signing between IHG and Kyren Group will see Crowne Plaza Adelaide open on Frome Street, between Rundle Street and North Terrace in the vibrant east end, giving guests unrivalled access to the city’s retail, commercial office, education and iconic cultural attractions, including restaurants, museums, galleries, universities and gardens. IHG senior director of development, Australasia Abhijay Sandilya said: “We are very excited to bring Crowne Plaza back to Adelaide, after a brief hiatus. As the city comes alive around us with the Fringe Festival, it demonstrates the need for a contemporary, upscale hotel that embraces both business and leisure travel, with a focus on events. We are confident that Crowne Plaza Adelaide will capitalise on strong corporate, conference and leisure demand.”
InterContinental Perth City Centre Opens in Western Australia
The new 16-story InterContinental Perth City Centre has opened its doors in Western Australia. The hotel includes 240 guest rooms across a multitude of various room layouts. The InterContinental is located on Hay Street, down the street from His Majesty’s Theatre. Guests can enjoy King Street’s high-end retailers, ranging from Chanel to Kailis Pearls, as well as access to Perth’s many charming laneways and cafes.
AccorHotels continues partnership with National Rugby League
AccorHotels confirmed it has extended a four-year agreement with the National Rugby League (NRL), to continue as the official accommodation partner of the sporting organisation. AccorHotels will support all NRL Clubs and Holden State of Origin teams with their accommodation requirements across Australia and New Zealand. AccorHotels Pacific chief operating officer Simon McGrath, said “we have thoroughly enjoyed our partnership with the NRL over the last four years and we are thrilled to be signing on as the Official Accommodation partner of the NRL until 2021.
AccorHotels to open dual branded hotel at Melbourne Tullamarine Airport
Melbourne Tullamarine Airport partnered with AccorHotels to construct a “dual branded”, 464 room hotel at the airport’s new ‘The Hive’ property precinct. The development includes a budget three star Ibis Styles hotel and four star Novotel branded hotel. Melbourne Airport chief of property Linc Horton commented: “Currently our on airport hotels are operating at significant capacity year round so it is crucial we expand our hotel amenity”.
