Tourism WA launched (Feb-2018) ‘Hotel Perth’ a new marketing campaign focusing on selling Perth as a holiday destination on Australia’s East Coast. The aim of the campaign is to showcase Perth as an affordable place for a holiday, by offering multi-night deals for hotels in three categories – under AUD200 (USD155), under AUD300 (USD210) and ‘luxury’ of AUD300 (USD210) and over – in partnership with Helloworld. The campaign will be integrated across television, print, public relations, content, digital, social and electronic direct mail and runs until the end of Mar-2018.

Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter said it was pleasing to see such a strong first month, coming off “some favourable visitation figures” late in 2017. Mr Winter said: “Many of our industry members are telling us they have experienced one of their busiest summers ever, so the figures seem to be painting a similar picture”.

Melbourne Tullamarine Airport partnered (01-Mar-2018) with AccorHotels to construct a “dual branded”, 464 room hotel at the airport’s new ‘The Hive’ property precinct. Brisbane’s newest hotel is the face of boom, says Minister
Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones believes the opening of the new AUD600 million FV by Peppers hotel in Fortitude Valley was evidence Brisbane is on the cusp of a hotel boom. Ms Jones said: “The opening is a vote of confidence in Queensland’s tourism industry and sets an impressive new benchmark in Brisbane’s quality hotel offering. This year there are eight new hotels opening in Brisbane including FV by Peppers. The confidence in our state and in Brisbane as a tourism hot spot is buoyed by record visitor figures. Last year we saw 7.9 million visitors to Brisbane – that’s an average increase of just under 14% year-on-year in the domestic market and 4.6% increase in the international market.”
