Cathay Pacific regional head of cargo Southeast Asia Siddhant Iyer, via the airline’s ‘Cargo Clan’ newsletter, reported (29-Nov-2018) Southeast Asia “has been enjoying something of a boom over the past month or so”. Mr Iyer said the carrier achieved “some records for cargo revenues”. He said the performance reflects the annual cargo peak and the carrier’s focus on specialist solutions for exports, including electronic goods and perishables. Mr Iyer also noted “a big increase in demand for e-commerce” and said “current tensions in global trade” may lead to growth in demand in Southeast Asia.
