Cathay Pacific offers voluntary unpaid leave to all employees

6 February, 2020

Cathay Pacific offered a voluntary special leave scheme to all employees from 01-Mar-2020 to 30-Jun-2020 to help cope with the impact of the coronavirus, adding that preserving cash was "key to protecting" its business (BBC/Reuters, 05-Feb-2020). Under the scheme, all employees will have the option to take three weeks of unpaid leave during this period. Cathay said it has been taking "multiple measure" to preserve cash, including asking suppliers to cut prices, stopped hiring new staff and postponed some major projects and stopped all non-critical spending.
