Cathay Pacific may merge Cathay Dragon and HK Express: report

Cathay Pacific reportedly plans to merge Cathay Dragon and HK Express to form a new company named Cathay Express (The Standard/Apple Daily, 08-May-2020). The carrier also plans to reduce staff and pilot salary by 30%. As previously reported by CAPA, the carrier said it is modelling "varying degrees of structural change" to protect the airline from "catastrophic impact" of the coronavirus pandemic", adding, "we can't rule out anything to ensure our airline business will come out from the crisis stronger and more competitive".
