Cathay Pacific GM cargo: Cargo off to a ‘soft start’ in 2019 after ‘record-breaking’

Cathay Pacific GM cargo commercial Nelson Chin, via the airline’s ‘Cargo Clan’ newsletter, stated (28-Mar-2019) “a record-breaking year” for the carrier’s cargo business made a “significant contribution” to the improved performance of Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon in 2018. Looking forward, Mr Chin commented: “In terms of 2019, we have seen a soft start to the year. Air cargo volumes are down worldwide. In the first two months, we experienced a decline in both cargo volume and revenue against 2018, but that is against a high base. Revenue figures are still far above the same period in 2017”. Mr Chin added: “There are some possible global economic headwinds, but also some grounds for cautious optimism”.
