Cathay Pacific: 75% of employees have opted for unpaid leave scheme

Cathay Pacific said 25,000 of its employees have agreed to take unpaid leave, accounting for 75% of the carrier's 33,000 employees, after Cathay warned that its business conditions remained "acute" amid the coronavirus outbreak (South China Morning Post, 26-Feb-2020). CEO Augustus Tang Kin-wing said those that have taken up the special leave scheme comprise "many" frontline employees and those working at the head office, overseas and subsidiary units.
